Mitsubishi has taken the lead on price cuts but not all dealers are happy with the action and many feel their ability to trade has been squeezed too tight. Even before that move the company remained close to the bottom of the NFDA table, despite a huge shake-up in management. In the past Colt has claimed the survey is unrepresentative but the results are consistent. The company wants to increase its representation, particularly in major population centres, and has indicated it is willing to set up its own dealerships if necessary. It already own seven sites. The fleet specialist side of the business is to be expanded to take in all outlets. New product such as Pinin, Spacestar and new Shogun will revitalise the range but the brand still struggles with volume models, such as Carisma and Galant which are worthy cars but fail to capture the imagination.
