Autobytel has abandoned its original strategy of offering parallel imports because cuts have started to harmonise UK and other EU prices.

Kevin Turnbull, UK chief executive, has announced a series of changes to Autobytel's UK strategy. He said dropping imports would get rid of supply problems.

He said a new 'pay for performance' approach was intendeded to give greater transparency to the service.

"It makes Autobytel more accountable for the delivery of qualified customers to dealers," said Mr Turnbull. "This enhances the value of the programme to dealers."

The pay for performance pricing structure would give dealers a choice of two options: paying a fee per purchase request (£25) or a fee (£150) on the audited car sale.
