Honda (UK)says it will record its eighth successive year of growth in 2000 with sales in excess of 68,000 cars, giving the manufacturer a full-year market share of above 3% for the first time.

November new car registration figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders show that Honda registrations at 67,527 units this year, representing a market share of 3.19%. This time last year Honda had a market share of 3.05% on 64,345 registrations. But it ended 1999 with a market share of 2.97%.

The Swindon-built Civic, Accord and CR-V models account for two thirds of all Honda (UK) car sales, with the Civic and Accord ranges selling in excess of 20,000 units each.

Around 750 of the S2000 sports car have been sold, almost double the number sold in 1999. And after making its debut as the first petrol-electric hybrid car on sale in Britain, the Insight is well on the way to achieving its first 100 sales.
