Esso, Duckhams and Mobil are involved in marketing initiatives designed to boost top-up sales within dealerships with both brands recognising that since service intervals are longer dealerships need to counter-balance the fall in lubricant sales between services by increasing the level of top-up sales.

Vikki Adamson, brand manager for Duckhams Oil, said: “One in 10 drivers admits to waiting till the oil warning light comes on before acting. This can seriously affect vehicle performance and efficiency.

“With this promotion, Duckhams hopes to encourage customers to realise that regular oil checks are not a lengthy or complicated process and that a routine inspection takes a few minutes.”

Duckhams customers buying a 4.5 or 5-litre pack of Premium QXR Petrol or Diesel Oil or 5-litre Hypergrade Petrol or Diesel Oil receive a free Duckham's oil top-up kit.

Mobil's top-up solution provides a 1-litre bottle of Mobil lubricant, a re-sealable bag, handy wipe, disposable glove and a know-how guide. Since the programme was introduced, 200,000 drivers have taken advantage of the initiative.
