Peugeot has released the first pictures of its 306 replacement, the coupe-like 307.

The lower-medium sector model, to be launched in June, is expected to be a major fleet contender. Consumers received a sneak preview of its design at last year's Paris motor show, where the Promethee 'multi-media concept car' revealed the 307's styling and shape.

The 307 will be launched with a choice of six engines – three petrol and three diesel, including a new small direct injection diesel unit.

Peugeot expects the new model to outsell the 306, becoming its most successful car in the UK. The 306 has sold 425,500 units since its UK launch in 1993.

Prices and trim levels will be announced at a later date.
