Honda is recalling more than 4,800 of its new Civic 5-door in the UK after discovering faulty fuel filler pipes.

A further 19 other models manufactured this year, including Accord models, are also being recalled because of a insecure retaining pin in the foot pedals.

Worldwide, a total of 150,000 cars could be recalled.

A Honda spokesman said: "Any customer affected by either of these issues will, where possible, be offered the opportunity to have checks carried out at their place of work or home. A full explanation will be given at the time of the check.

"All customers affected will be contacted within the next 21 days. There are no known cases of reported failure due to either of these issues."
