The Honda Insight has been shortlisted for a design award. The hybrid car is one of six entries in the Design Sense Award, alongside such product innovations as the interlocking brick, the Motorola mobile phone and Eco Works office furniture.

Jon King, Design Sense judge, said of the electric/petrol engined car: "It demonstrates that the automotive industry can produce competitively priced cars that have sustainability as a key design criterion."

All the shortlisted entries will be exhibited at the Design Museum, London, from August 31. The winner will be announced on September 26.
