Scrap operator Universal Salvage has linked with vehicle information provider HPI to help drive down fraud and improve efficiency.

The agreement, which ensures the immediate identification of cars at the business via the internet, enables Universal Salvage to confirm whether a vehicle has a plate transfer or finance interest recorded against it. It also ensures more accurate assessments of resale value for vehicles disposed through auctions.

Biju Chudasama, Universal Salvage IT director, said the move would help eliminate mistakes through human error. “Through a fixed link to HPI we have immediate access to vital and accurate information,” he said.
