Chrysler Jeep UK director Simon Elliott believes the PT Cruiser cabriolet will play a key role in building sales. “We are beginning to re-establish ourselves with new models,” he said. The PT soft-top is likely to go into production next year with units for the UK by 2003. “We're pushing at an open door with senior Chrysler management to get right-hand drive cars,” said Mr Elliott. He expects 1,500 Chrysler Crossfire sports coupes in 2003 and also wants the PT Cruiser van, 300M luxury saloon and a wider range of derivatives in the Neon range. Chrysler Jeep was on target for 5,000 Voyager sales this year and dealers had the new Jeep Cherokee, he said. The two brands' 97 UK retail outlets will have their first makeover in nine years with a brushed silver livery incorporating the gold and red Chrysler logo alongside a dark green Jeep badge. Mr Elliott said: “The Chrysler section will be more American, with chrome and mirrors, while the Jeep area will be rugged and rural.”
