A total of 222 cars were pre-registered by manufacturers in August.

Ford pre-registered far-and-away the most vehicles (139), followed by Vauxhall (29), Toyota (25) and Honda (15).

The remainder were pre-registered by Hyundai and Mercedes (4 each), Citroen (3) and Audi, Fiat and Skoda (one each).

The total income from selling these vehicles was £2,134,424.

The Supply of New Cars Order 2000 requires motor manufacturers to publish the number of pre-registered cars supplied and the gross income received from their sale.
