Prices for the new Nissan Micra will start at £7495 for the entry-level 1.0 E three-door while the basic 1.2 S will cost £7995.

Dealers need to add £500 to the price for an S, £1500 for the SE and £2500 for the range topping SX or SVE.

The 1.4-litre engine adds £300 to the price of a 1.2-litre car, and the 1.5-litre dCi 65 adds £800. Five doors are another £500 while autos cost an extra £900.

And following massive demand from new car buyers, Nissan has moved the launch of the car forward from January 23 to January 15.
