Polar Group is expected to be confirmed as the buyer of Ford solus dealer group Quartic at the end of next week, following stock taking this weekend.

Quartic Motor Group, which has 12 locations and includes Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester prime territories, was put into administrative receivership in the second week of October after Ford issued two-year notices of termination of its franchise agreements.

CD Bramall was understood to be interested in Quartic's Atlantic Ford operation in Stockport, but AM's information is that Polar – the joint venture between Ford and Jardine Motors – is to take over the entire group.

Earlier this month Polar also emerged as the likely buyer for the Glasgow-based retailer First Ford, put into receivership by Ford Credit Europe. This sale, too, could be confirmed next week.

One source close to both deals believes Polar is looking at further potential acquisitions in the north-east. “Ford seems determined to put Polar into every metropolitan area in Britain,” he says.

Ford was unavailable for comment.
