DaimlerChrysler UK has now submitted a planning application for its Heritage and Technology Centre for Mercedes-Benz at the historic Brooklands racetrack site at Weybridge in Surrey.

Plans for the scheme, first announced on am-online on 18 November, have been presented to Elmbridge Borough Council. They include conservation initiatives, a country park and flood protection measures that are part of DaimlerChrysler UK's scheme to create a site where people can learn about the history Mercedes-Benz shares with Brooklands.

Peter O'Halloran, HTC Director for DaimlerChrysler UK Retail said: “Over the past few weeks we have been in consultation with the local community and businesses, The Brooklands Society and Brooklands Museum as well as bodies like the Environment Agency and English Heritage. We have taken comments on board and we are confident that our proposal will be of benefit to local people as well as people who love motor sport and the spirit of Brooklands.”
