Subaru’s 2006 Impreza will be available on-the-road from £16,200 this month.

The entry-level Impreza 2.0R 5-door, which has a new 158bhp 2.0 litre four-cam ‘boxer’ engine, produces a 130mph top speed. It reaches 0-60mph in 8.5 seconds and returns 40.4 mpg on the extra urban cycle.

The Impreza WRX saloon comes with a new 2.5-litre turbo engine and costs £20,900 OTR, an increase of £600.

Top of the range is the £26,995 Impreza 2.5 WRX STI. It has a 279bhp engine which produces a top speed of 158.4mph and a 0-60 mph time of 5.0 seconds.

All 2006 Imprezas feature new bumpers, ‘spread-wings’ mesh grille and ‘hawk-eye’ headlamps matched by new 3-D cylindrical rear lamps.

The gear boxes have all been tweaked and the STI model has a revised all-wheel drive system. All models featuring air-conditioning and a single disc CD player.
