Car retailer Hendy Group is on the expansion trail with the acquisition of the Exeter Car Supermarket.

The multi-million pound deal is an integral part of the group’s growth plans and strengthens its existing presence in the south west.

The new business, which will continue to trade as Exeter Car Supermarket for the foreseeable future, complements the company’s existing Honda dealership and truck sales and servicing outlet on the Marsh Barton Industrial Estate in Exeter.

Group managing director Paul Hendy says: “The car supermarket can stock more than 100 cars with an emphasis on high quality, low mileage models and we are looking forward to incorporating this concept into our existing automotive operation.’’

Hendy Group currently employs more than 900 people in the south from Exeter to West Sussex and was recently ranked in the Sunday Times 250 of Britain’s biggest mid-market private companies.

The acquisition of the £10m turnover Exeter Car Supermarket brings the Group’s total annual turnover to about £190m.
