BCA has released new data charting current trends in the wholesale used car market.

BCA Pulse is a new quarterly electronic publication providing wholesale market pricing data. Looking at three sectors - nearly new, fleet/lease and part exchange - it provides pricing trends, CAP performance, mileage and age data.

There is a new BCA Used Car Price Index, which amalgamates the information and is updated monthly.

Pulse also contains an analysis of general economic and specific motor industry trends and information from industry bodies and price guides.

BCA UK managing director Andrew Hulme, says: “Handling over 1.3m vehicles annually puts BCA in a position to compile accurate information on the wholesale used car market, based on real transaction prices.

“We have consulted our database of price information to provide comparative figures for the notional ‘36 month, 60,000-mile’ company operated vehicle, the nearly new car and the part-exchange vehicle. Together, these give a wide-angle snapshot of the wholesale used market and form the BCA Price Index, which will be updated every month.”

The first edition of Pulse covers 2005 to date and also provides information on the whole of 2004.
