The carmaker has decided that its new C4 Picasso will not replace the ageing Xsara Picasso. Instead the new model will be positioned above Xsara Picasso and the Berlingo Multispace, and below the brand’s largest MPV, the C8.
Marc Raven, Citroën UK director of communications, says the models will target different customers.
“C4 Picasso will appeal to people needing to move from their SUV or estate car because they now need seven seats, flexibility and a good drive,” he adds.
Xsara Picasso is a five-seater, priced £9,000-11,000. C4 Picasso is a seven-seat MPV with two rows of flat-fold seats. It will be priced £15,000-20,000. The seven-seat C8 starts at £19,500.
