The planned regulations to ensure car modified to run on LPG are subject to safety tests after the conversion has been greeted by the Retail Motor Industry Federation.

“Clause 56 will give power to the Secretary of State to introduce these regulations, which will require our MOT testing station members to ensure that the annual test takes into account that such cars have been modified.

“The RMIF fully supports this move, believing this an important step in ensuring the safety of consumers,” said Matthew Carrington, RMIF chief executive, commenting on the recent Parliament Road Safety Bill Committee discussion last week (April 20).

Carrington also said he hoped the regulations would be finalised as soon as possible to ensure ‘smooth and efficient compliance’.

The clause was carried through committee without a vote after discussion.
