Williamson Motors has expanded in Darlington after buying a nearby Citroen dealership in a £1 million deal.

The company has bought the Citroen dealership, which has an annual turnover of approximately £8 million, from the Newcastle-based Springfield dealer group. All 22 current staff will be retained, with the prospect of more jobs in the future.

The Chesnut street garage will continue to offer a range of new and used cars, light commercial vehicles, a service and repair centre, and a parts and accessories outlet. Williamson also has an independent body shop.

The new acquisition will bring the number of Williamson dealerships to four, joining its company headquarters in Chesnut Street, and outlets in Spennymoor and Hartlepool.
