How did you get in to the automotive business?
I went straight into a four-year apprenticeship as a motor vehicle technician from school. What does your job entail?
I am responsible for all aspects of the business. How will your job change over the next few years?
The business has evolved from a publisher of paper products to a provider of information in a variety of formats such as CD, internet and raw data. The challenge we face is to continue to provide the most accurate, relevant and up-to-date information in formats that best suit our customers’ needs. Other jobs?
Vehicle technician, workshop foreman, technical writer, production manager/director.

What advice would you give to young people joining the industry?
Whatever entry path you choose, do some form of recognized vocational training.

What’s the worst career move you’ve ever made?
Nothing I would change.

And the best?
Moving to Autodata as a trainee technical writer and more recently completing an MBA.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?
Hopefully celebrating Autodata’s 40th anniversary.
