Nissan GB kicked off the marketing campaign this month for its new Qashqai compact crossover, which goes on today.

Targeting fashion-conscious urban young males who want SUV presence but hatchback convenience, the promotion’s slogan is: “100% urbanproof: Designed tough for urban living.”

It translates the car into a skateboard, using tricks to negotiate roadworks and congestion. Nissan has already had more than 5,500 leads prior to the TV campaign launch, thanks to viral online videos of fictional Qashqai Car Games, featuring Qashqai drivers doing skate-like stunts. The videos are supported by a website with rules and history of the fictional sport.
