Chinese carmaker Brilliance Jinbei Automobile has announced plans to sell 75,000 cars in Europe by 2010.

However, the UK isn’t included as the carmaker will not make right-hand drive models until the next decade.

European distributor HSO Motors Europe will this year start selling the Brilliance BS6, a large saloon styled by Giorgio Giugiaro’s ItalDesign and with ride and handling “optimized” by Porsche. Prices will start at around £14,000.

A BS4 mid-range saloon, also penned by Guigaro, and a coupé called BC3, styled by Pininfarina, will follow. All are Euro IV compliant and diesels will be offered for the saloons.

Brilliance has experience of building quality cars – it’s BMW’s Chinese assembler. It has invested heavily in manufacturing facilities in Shenyang and will build 200,000 cars this year – 20,000 of them BMWs.

Meanwhile, HSO Motors is signing up European distributors. These include Belgian car supermarket Cardoen and France’s AsieAuto, which already distributes Landwind SUVs.
