Vauxhall has revived its SRi variant for its Corsa model after a two year absence from the range.

The SRi is designed to appeal to buyers that don’t want something quite as performance orientated as the VXR but still want some body kit and sharper driving dynamics.

Two engines are on offer, a new 148bhp 1.6-litre turbo unit, or a 123bhp 1.7 CDTi diesel. The petrol unit is based on the one found in the Corsa VXR which gives it a 0-60mph time of 7.6 seconds and a top speed of 130mph.

The diesel model accelerates from 0-60mph in 9.3 seconds with a top speed of 121mph. However, Vauxhall claims it will still return 58.9mpg.

The SRi is lowered by 18mm at the front and 15mm at the rear and features ESP as standard. Extra bits include a front spoiler, deep body-coloured side sills, 17-inch alloy wheels, a chrome sports exhaust pipe and a tailgate spoiler. Inside, red-detailed sports seats, a leather-trimmed steering wheel with red inserts, alloy pedals and red seatbelts further set the performance tone.
