Carmakers back out from motor show

Nissan Porsche, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Land Rover and Rolls Royce have all said they will skip the USA's Detroit auto show next year.

The carmakers want to cut marketing spend as car sales continue to fall globally.

The Detroit show is the first in the annual international motor show calendar.

General Motors announced yesterday that it is ending an endorsement deal with golfer Tiger Woods a year early, and cutting spending on motor sports endorsements.
