Nation flags made legal on plates

Drivers can now legally display their nation’s flag on number plates, after the Department for Transport changed legislation.

But British motorists will still need to display an oval GB sticker or carry the EU flag on plates when driving on the continent.

Under the new rules, drivers can show the Union Jack, Cross of St George, Saltire or Red Dragon of Wales to the left-hand side of their number plate.
