Marshall is to open a new Volvo dealership in Nottingham which brings its total number of sites with the brand to four.

The acquisition follows Marshall’s intention to expand beyond East Anglia and gain coverage across the UK.

Daksh Gupta, Marshall chief executive, said: “This is a great addition for Marshall and fits really well with our stated strategy to grow the business beyond our traditional boundaries into large towns and cities with scalable markets.

“I am also delighted to be building on our excellent relationship with Volvo which we have represented for 10 years and we are very grateful to the team at Volvo Cars for their continued support and assistance.”

Marshall already represents Volvo in Cambridgeshire (dealerships in Cambridge and Peterborough) and in Lincolnshire (Grantham). Nottingham is the eighth largest
conurbation in the UK with a population of over 666,000.

Gupta said: “As a franchise, Volvo has outperformed the industry in the composites for return on sales with their network averaging 2.1% against an industry average of just 1% in 2009.

“In Marshall we have seen two of our existing sites exceed 3% RoS and we are very excited about the future with the new products in the pipeline like the new S60.”

The new dealership will open in time to take advantage of the March new registration market.

Gupta added: “This is the eighth new franchised business we have added to the group in the last 12 months and we are optimistic that we will add several more during 2010.”
