Oldham is pulling ahead in the gentle race to open the first all-electric car showroom in the country.
The council in the Pennine town near Manchester has voted to lease a former cinema for the purpose.
The Manchester Electric Car Company will now put in a detailed planning application.
The project, titled the Hollinwood Electric Pod, should be ready to open next summer as the first of six in Greater Manchester.
