Mitsubishi has confirmed its new Outlander plug-in hybrid will receive a 100% discount on the London Congestion Charge when it arrives in the UK in 2014.

The Outlander PHEV uses two electric motors, one for each axle, and can travel for up to 32 miles on plug-in charge, and reach 75mph.

It also has a petrol engine, with a total available range (including plug-in charge) of 514 miles, while speeds higher than 75mph are possible when using it.

The car has CO2 emissions of 44g/km and fuel consumption of 148mpg on the combined cycle.

Prices have not yet been announced, although the Outlander PHEV is expected to have a higher purchase price than the range-topping diesel's £34,229.

Mitsubishi recently told AM in an interview with UK managing director Lance Bradley, that the business was hard at work trying to get the price right for the UK market.
