Derbyshire-based Pentagon Motor Group has agreed to acquire Grimshaws Vauxhall, which includes two sites in Manchester and a corporate fleet division in Horwich near Bolton, for an undisclosed sum.

The deal is expected to take the group's annual turnover to around £400 million and 25 franchise points in total. All Grimshaws current team and management will be retained.

Pentagon already represents Vauxhall in the nearby towns of Oldham and Rochdale.

The decision to sell came as Grimshaws owner and managing director Alan Grimshaw has decided to retire from the business.

Trevor Reeve, Pentagon chairman, said: “The two sites in Prestwich and Eccles will take our Vauxhall representation up to 10 dealerships, and I expect the closeness of these sites to our other Vauxhall dealerships in the area to provide us with significant operational synergies in the future.

“The dealerships in Prestwich and Eccles are both full of potential and I am looking forward to working closely with everyone there.”

Alan Grimshaw said: “I’m thrilled that we have become part of the Pentagon family, who like us believe that traditional family values are still as important today as they ever were. I know that the business is now in safe hands to continue its future success”.
