Mercedes-Benz has appointed Andrew Mallery as its new marketing director for Mercedes-Benz Cars effective from June 3.

Mallery, currently commercial operations director, takes over from David George, who joined as marketing director for the German brand in April 2011. Mercedes said George has left to join a Mercedes-Benz dealer group in the south of England.

In addition to his new role, Mallery will also retain responsibility for Mercedes-Benz World, the brand experience centre at Brooklands, Surrey.

Gary Savage, Mercedes-Benz Cars managing director, said: “It’s a great time for Andrew to move into the role of marketing director.

“In his current position as commercial operations director, he’s successfully developed Mercedes-Benz World into a world-class destination for private and corporate visitors as well as overseeing the introduction and expansion of the Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy.

“David George’s expertise has played a major role in the growth of passenger car sales and we look forward to him continuing this great work with our retail partner.”

The dealer group which has appointed George is expected to make an announcement soon.

Mallery said: “It’s a very exciting time to lead the marketing team.

“Mercedes-Benz is in the middle of the biggest roll-out of new products in our history - and we’re continuing to change the way we market our products and services too. I’ve got a great team of talented marketeers alongside me, and I’m absolutely certain that we’ll create some exceptional work over the coming months and years.”
