Ford has issued a recall of more than 16,000 Transit vans in the UK because of a faulty brake pedal retaining clip.

Some 16,312 Transits built between September 28 2012 and February 6 2013 are subject to the recall, according to the Vehicle and Operators Services Agency (VOSA).

VOSA said the remedial action is to replace a 'R' clip retaining the brake pedal pin, due to a possibility that it could become detached resulting in the disconnection of the brake pedal and brake failure.

VIN numbers affected are WF0KXXTTPKBS86741 to WF0UXXTTPUBU75804.
