Euro NCAP, the organisation assessing the safety of new cars, has released the crash test results for several new vehicles. 

The Dacia Sandero (pictured) received four stars, whilst the Renault Captur and the Chevrolet Trax both achieved the overall five star rating.

The Sandero, the lowest priced new car in the UK, achieved 80% for adult protection and 79% for child protection, however its safety assist rating was 55% as it has electronic stability control but no seatbelt reminder system for the rear seats.

The Captur achieved 88% for adult protection and 79% for child protection and 81% for safety assist - it has stability control, full seatbelt reminders and an optional driver-set speed limiter.

The Trax scored 94% for adult protection, 85% for child protection and 81% for safety assist.
