Software developer DCML has launched an online test-drive booking system for dealerships and manufacturers.

Already used by ‘a leading franchised dealer group and several individual dealers’, DCML says it can be integrated into any dealer website to boost conversion rates by as much as 40%.

Linked to the dealer’s inventory, the system allows customers to choose a vehicle, date and time. Dealership staff are alerted by text message and email, while bookings are scheduled within an online diary.

Vince Powell, managing director of DCML, said: “It is vitally important for vehicle retailers to tap into current trends by enabling buyers to conduct more of the buying process online.

“While armchair buying is changing the industry business model, boosting the number of test-drives will help to sell cars. Most of the process can be conducted online but customers still know how important a test-drive can be.”
