Alfa Romeo is the first non-Chinese car brand to jump ahead of the Electric Car Grant (ECG) to start marketing electric vehicle discounts to its customers to boost retail sales.

A £1,500 discount is now available on all Junior Elettrica models on top of all existing retail offers and 0% finance.

The deal also includes a complimentary Ohme ePOD or Home Pro (tethered) EV home charger and standard residential installation.

The new discount puts the entry price of the Junior Elettrica down to £32,405.

The Italian brand is the first non-Chinese original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in the UK to start marketing discounts for its Junior Elettrica models directly following on from the Electric Car Grant.

Jules Tilstone, Alfa Romeo UK managing director, said: “To underscore the commitment Alfa Romeo has in making electrification more accessible we want to support customers with our EV grant.

“Our entire fully electric Junior range is now more appealing than ever with this incentive, which along with our existing retail offers, will help encourage Britain’s drivers on their electric journey.”

Available with a choice of two power outputs, 156hp and up to 255-mile range (WLTP) or the 280hp Veloce with up to 207 miles of range (WLTP).

The Government has suggested that certain EVs will not qualify for the ECG based on the environmental standards of production facilities.

To qualify for the £650 million scheme, electric cars must have a recommended retail price (RRP) of £37,000 or less, with two levels of grant available depending on the carmaker’s sustainability standards.

The ‘greenest’ vehicles in band one will receive up to £3,750, with band two vehicles receiving up to £1,500.

The ECG requires manufacturers to have committed to a verified science-based target (SBT) and have embodied carbon scores below a certain threshold.

Alfa Romeo now joins Leapmotor, GWM UK and MG with launching new marketing and discounts around the ECG.
