Issues related to the timing chain of Stellantis' 1.5-litre BlueHDI diesel engines built between 2017 and 2023 have led the vehicle manufacturer to extend its warranty cover.

Under this enhanced policy, Stellantis will cover 100% of parts and labour costs for up to 10 years or 150,000 miles, subject to specific conditions.

To be eligible to the special coverage, maintenance should have been performed by any automotive professional according to the manufacturer’s recommendation.

Where issues arise, diagnosis and repair must be performed by a workshop or dealership within Stellantis's authorised repairer network.

The action follows a compensation scheme that was launched to support customers who faced repair bills caused by timing belt issues on certain Stellantis petrol engines, earlier this year.

Stellantis cars which used the engine include Peugeot 208, Vauxhall Astra and Grandland, and DS3 Crossback.

Some vans from the Peugeot, Citroen, Vauxhall and Fiat brands may also be affected.

As part of this initiative, Stellantis is also providing, to its used car customers in the Spoticar and Stellantis authorized network, the Check + certificate that informs them that they will benefit from the same special coverage.

Stellantis said that in addition to this extension, customers who have previously experienced camshaft chain issues may request from mid-July on reimbursement for related expenses. This complementary policy applies to qualifying repairs carried out between January 1, 2023, and June 30, 2025, provided that the vehicle’s maintenance and diagnosis followed the guidelines recommended by the respective brand.

Models that could be impacted include:

Peugeot: 208, 2008, 308, 3008, 5008, Partner vans

Citroen: C3, C3 Aircross, C4 Cactus, C5 Aircross, Berlingo and Dispatch vans
