Electric vehicle charging company Pod Point is to become the preferred supplier for Volvo Car UK.

Pod Point’s new status means that anyone purchasing a Volvo plug-in hybrid model will be able to have the Pod Point Solo, priced from £390, installed at their home within 10 working days.

Hybrid powertrains are currently available in XC90 T8 and V60 D6 guise but are likely to be in all Volvo's model line-ups by 2019.

Pod Point is also able to help Volvo owners get charging points installed at their place of work and demonstrate the benefits electric vehicles bring can bring to their organisation.

Pod Point partners with Carbon Footprint to offset the first 5,000 miles of electricity for each homecharge Pod Point installed, giving drivers time to think about switching to a greener energy tariff.

Erik Fairbairn, chief executive and founder of Pod Point, said: “We take pride in training and educating plug-in vehicle owners on getting the most out of their electric vehicles.

"There is a wave of momentum in the EV industry now with many manufacturers producing PHEVs, and with more than 47,000 plug-in vehicles on the road in the UK already, we are starting to see plug-in cars become the de facto way to drive.”
