The Dacia Spring and Jaecoo 7 are leading a sharp rise in consumer interest on Auto Trader’s new car platform, with both models seeing rapid growth in enquiries in June.

Dacia’s all-electric Spring has become the most in-demand new EV on the site, accounting for nearly 10% of all electric vehicle leads this month, up from just 3.6% in May.

The budget-friendly EV has helped push Dacia to the top of the electric brand rankings, with a 9.6% share of all EV enquiries.

The Jaecoo 7 is now the second most searched-for new car across all fuel types, commanding a 3% share of total new car leads.

It marks the fourth consecutive month of growth for the model, which climbed from tenth place in March to second in June, just behind the Land Rover Range Rover Sport.

Both brands are attracting buyers with value-focused offerings at a time when affordability is playing a key role in car purchasing decisions.

Discounts on electric start to pick up again

The average new car discount across all fuel types made upward movement this month so far with discounts increasing slightly from 8.9% in May to 9.2% in June.

Similarly, electric models increased from 10.2% off RRP in May to 10.4% this month following a slight month-on-month softening between April and May.

Bex Kennett, New Car Performance Director at Auto Trader commented: “We’re seeing more affordable options enter the market, which as reflected in the popularity of the Dacia Spring, is helping make the switch to electric far more accessible for the average car buyer.

"With more options available and rising discounts helping to further entice buyers, our outlook for the market remains a confident one."
