SsangYong importer Bassadone Automotive has established a new business to implement the return of DFSK light commercial vehicles to the UK.

Doug Lincoln has been appointed operations director of new operation Vehicle Import and Distribution Ltd which will have its head office and logistics centre in Luton and will deliver DFSK vehicles into the country via its own import reception and preparation centre at Portbury Docks, near Bristol.

Lincoln said: “We believe there is a huge opportunity for DFSK in the UK.

“From small independent businesses through to local authorities, cost-saving and value-for-money is today’s mantra. Why pay more when a DFSK delivers such a great return on investment?

“We particularly see huge opportunities in metropolitan areas where the vehicles’ compact size, manoeuvrability and economical petrol engines are ideal for short, stop-start urban journeys.”

The range DFSK range, which will go on sale this summer, will initially comprise of the C31 single cab minitruck, C32 double cab minitruck, C35 panel van and the C37 minivan.

UK prices have yet to be announced, but expected to start from below £10,000.

All DFSK vehicles meet the latest emissions requirements, and are powered by 1500cc Euro 6B petrol engines.

Details of a DFSK network have yet to be revealed, but Lincoln promised “Good and well-priced aftersales service” from his partners.

He added: “We want to get that right and build customer confidence in the product and servicing before pushing for volume sales.”
