Kia will expand its electric vehicle range with the addition of its EV5 crossover SUV before the end of this year.

Final WLTP figures for the EV5 are yet to be confirmed, but the new model is aiming for a zero emissions range of 329 miles on a single charge for the long-range 81.4kWh version.

All EV5 variants support fast charging with 400v technology, from 10-to-80% in as little as 30 minutes.

The EV5 is equipped with Kia’s latest ccNC (connected car Navigation Cockpit) system, including a panoramic wide display combining a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and a 5.3-inch climate control display.

Over-the-air (OTA) updates and the Kia Upgrades platform keep the model future-ready, with new features and services being released over time.

Next-generation EV features include bi-directional charging, including vehicle-to-load (V2L) offering up to 3.6kW of power, as well as vehicle-to-grid (V2G) hardware.

This means the EV5 can be used to power up electricals on camping trips, or connect up to home energy solar and battery systems.

The EV5 was first launched for the Chinese market, but this new version has been reimagined with European buyers in mind.

Sjoerd Knipping, chief operating officer of Kia Europe, said: “The EV5 is a cornerstone of Kia’s European growth strategy.

“We are entering Europe’s most competitive EV segment with a model that blends our iconic ‘Opposites United’ design, everyday practicality, and innovation rooted in electric mobility.

“This is us reaffirming our commitment to sustainable mobility, tailored to the way Europeans live, work and drive.”
