EMG Motor Group has continued its recent expansion with the acquisition of Marriott’s Mazda for an undisclosed fee.

The Bury St Edmunds-based dealer group, which has franchises with Kia (4), Hyundai (1), Mazda (2), Mitsubishi (1) and Subaru (1), followed up its recent acquisition of Duxford Motor Group with the addition of the fourth-generation family business on Liquorpond St, Boston.

EMG will maintain the Marriott name and former managing director Richard Marriott as the operation’s dealer principal.

A statement issued by EMG Group said: “EMG Motor Group are proud to welcome Marriott's into the EMG Family, being one of the few remaining genuine family owned and run motor dealerships spanning four generations of the Marriotts family and with the long-established association with the Mazda brand running for 43 consecutive year, EMG is proud to continue the heritage set by Marriott's of Boston, Lincolnshire.

“Marriotts brings more choice and more brands to EMG and we are extremely excited for the next chapter.”

The acquisition of Marriott’s follows that of Duxford Mitsubishi.

The business, based on Newmarket Road, Duxford, was acquired alongside the businesses associated Citroen service centre.

EMG said that it would aim to continue to acknowledge the heritage of the business which was founded back by David Bentinck in 1958.

The EMG Motor Group added in a statement issued via its website: “We aim to represent even more Citroën and Mitsubishi on the EMG website very soon, so stay tuned.”
