Pendragon has appointed former Jaguar Land Rover executive Mike Wright to its board.

Wright will join as an independent non-executive director on May 2, and will serve on Pendragon’s nomination committee and audit committee and will chair its remuneration committee.

In his extensive automotive career Wright was an executive director at Jaguar Land Rover between 2010 and 2016, responsible for corporate and product strategy, consumer and dealer finance and government affairs. Prior to that, he headed Jaguar and Land Rover’s customer services and market strategy functions while it was still owned by Ford.

Wright is also involved with a number of government related initiatives, as well as activities spanning education, sport and the arts.

Pendragon’s chairman Chris Chambers said: “I am delighted that Mike has agreed to join our board.  Mike’s extensive experience in automotive sector management will further strengthen our board as we continue to accelerate the transformation of our business and progress towards achieving our strategic objectives.

“Mike’s sector expertise will bring further depth and specialist knowledge to our board”.

Pendragon announced in 2017 that it had set new strategic objectives, which included reducing its premium brand franchise locations to release capital and avoid high investment demands, selling its USA business, and investing in its used car business and software business.
