Richmond Motor Group has completed the acquisition of a former Fiat and Abarth showroom in Drayton.

The Portsmouth-based car retail group recently added the MG Motor UK brand to its portfolio in Portsmouth and Southampton and looks set to expand its Hampshire used car business following the purchase of the new facility on Havant Road.

Commercial and industrial property consultants Holloway Iliffe & Mitchell revealed that Richmond’s new site comprised an 2,880sq-ft showroom together with first floor offices and workshops to the rear.

The showroom provides space for 12 cars and a paved forecourt area which can display over 32 cars.

A two storey house included in the purchase, it said in a statement, which revealed that the site would allow Richmond to “add to its existing Hyundai and Citroen portfolio”.

Holloway Iliffe & Mitchell director, Stuart Mitchell, said: “This site is already a well-established motor showroom, ready to occupy, so seeing it acquired by the Richmond Motor Group is perfect.

“Given the prominent location there had been a lot of interest in the site for a number of uses, but this transaction retains its car showroom use.”

LSH director, Graham Holland, who advised Richmond Motor Group, added: “Richmond Motor Group has seen significant expansion in both its Hyundai and Citroen dealerships across the South.

“The acquisition of the Havant Road site fits well with its strategy as it continues to buck the trend with its ambitious growth plans.”

Richmond currently represents Hyundai in Portsmouth, Southampton and Guilford, MG in Portsmouth and Southampton and Citroen in Portsmouth.
