SsangYong Motors UK has added the Shropshire town of Brignorth to its retail network after welcoming Broadstone Cars as a new franchise partner.

The family-run business has been treading in the town for over 50 years and the area was seen as a strategically strong location for the Korean brand thanks to its borders with the West Midlands, Staffordshire, Herefordshire, Cheshire, and Worcestershire with easy access from the M54.

Nick Laird, managing director of SsangYong Motor UK said: “Broadstone has a well-established reputation for excellent service.

“The growth of SsangYong means that we are attracting strong dealers from across the UK and Broadstone is no exception. We are delighted to welcome them on board.”

There are currently 65 SsangYong dealers covering England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

In October the OEM said that it was “creating a new type of retail offering” to take its products to potential customers inside the M25, where it is currently under-represented by franchisees.

The Korean car brand launched SsangYong Metro, what it refers to as a ‘hybrid’ dealer model, which amalgamates a traditional car dealership with a virtual concierge service.

More generally, the brand has been adopted by potential franchisees who see its rural appeal thanks to a wide range of 4x4 vehicles, including the Musso pick-up and seven-seat Rexton SUV.

The all-new Korando SUV is also introducing a Nissan Qashqai to the dealer network.

Tony Hargreaves, dealer principal at Broadstone SsangYong, said: “We were attracted to the SsangYong brand by the quality of the product along with the 7 year/ 150,000-mile warranty.

“The all new Korando is a revelation and with electric vehicles in the pipeline the SsangYong range will open up a whole new market for us.”
