Roger Young named Isuzu UK Dealer of the Year

Isuzu's Dealer of the Year award winner Roger Young

Roger Young Isuzu has been awarded the Dealer of the Year Award at the Isuzu Dealer Conference and Awards.

Isuzu UK said the dealer, based in Saltash, took home the award due to its all-around performance and investment in the brand during 2022.

Roger Young also took the Regional Dealer of the Year title for the south of the country and Parts Dealer of the Year.

The manufacturer said the awards recognised the group's strong sales performance, marketing activity, dealer events, parts performance, and customer satisfaction.

Alan Able, managing director at, Isuzu UK said: “We have some truly inspiring and deserving winners and runners-up this year, all of whom merited recognition.”

York Van Centre was named Regional Dealer of the Year in the northern area and RVT Isuzu was named the central Regional Dealer of the Year.

Trek Trucks of Sheffield was named Isuzu UK’s New Dealer of the Year for 2022, due to new showroom facilities and a team who have achieved ‘impressive results’ since joining the Isuzu franchise in February 2021.

The Dealership Community Award was presented to Hunt Forest Group, having raised more than £15,500 for charity, a team of 15 dealer personnel took on a 26-mile hike across the Jurassic Coast, walking from Weymouth to Lulworth Cove and back again.

Customer service advisor, Suzzane Davey of Ashburton Motor Works in Newton Abbot was named the 2022 Hero of Isuzu. Nominated by director Mervyn Wills, Davey demonstrated her expert knowledge, dedication and flexibility whilst covering for other job roles within the business when the need arose during the year.

The 2022 Special Appreciation Award was presented to Andy McGlone from Eaglesham Garage. Having started his career in the automotive industry at age 16, McGlone began his working life sweeping the workshop floor and making tea, before beginning as a sales apprentice.

Learning his trade and working his way up to the position of general manager, McGlone has represented the brand for many years and has become an established member of the Isuzu family.

Able said: “It was terrific to host our Dealer Conference & Awards again this year and gather to reflect on 2022, look forward to 2023 and recognise the achievements of our tremendous dealer partners with the annual awards.

“The event was made even more of a celebration as we were also joined this year by members of senior management from Isuzu Motors International Thailand and Europe, which is the first time they have been able to attend since the pandemic.

“Given the challenges in the industry, we felt it right to award those UK dealers and individuals who have gone above and beyond in the past year and once again identify those making a real difference in their community along with an individual Hero of Isuzu."

Last year, Isuzu UK secured a new multi-year partnership with the Scottish FA as the official commercial vehicle partner for the Men’s Scottish Cup.

In December 2022, Isuzu UK is said it is preparing for a decade of "significant change" in the pick-up sector after reaching the 50,000-registration milestone with the Isuzu D-Max.
