MG Motor UK has revealed that it will launch its first electric vehicle (EV) vehicle in autumn - an electrified version of the the MG ZS SUV.

With a full-sized boot and room for five, the MG ZS EV is for people who want to go electric but also need the space and practicality of a compact SUV, according to the brand.

Since launch in November 2017, MG ZS has been propelled by unleaded petrol fuel. From autumn this year the petrol version will be joined by a zero emissions electric equivalent, in hopes to bring “affordable electric motoring” to the British public.

MG’s head of sales and marketing Daniel Gregorious said “With the launch of our MG ZS electric SUV we’re delighted to be entering the electric car market at such an exciting time.

"With all the practicality and versatility of a compact SUV, a full-sized boot and room for five, ZS means electric without compromise.

"With MG’s trademark value-for-money approach, we’re confident that we can help more and more new car buyers to go electric."

The MG ZS EV will be launched in the UK in autumn 2019.

Full details, including pricing and specification, will be released closer to launch.
