Sales of Renault electrified models grew significantly in September, posting a year-on-year uplift of 71% compared to last year’s monthly figure.

As a result, the brand ranked as the 11th best-selling manufacturer of electrified vehicles in Q3 – and third best-selling manufacturer for HEVs alone – growing its electrified market share by 49% year-on-year.

AM spoke to Ben Fish, Renault UK's network operations director, to discuss the car maker’s strategy

‘Green’ vehicles accounted for 61% of all sales in September, with the Megane E-Tech 100% electric the single most popular vehicle for Motability customers for the second month running.

Proving that there’s still immense demand for a versatile supermini, the Renault Clio was also September’s fourth best-selling retail car in the UK.

The Clio’s success helped contribute to an incredible month in retail for Renault - compared to September last year, its retail market share grew by 72%. In passenger car sales, the brand’s volumes jumped by 81% over the year to September, lifting Renault’s market share by 50%.

Guillaume Sicard, country head UK & managing director Renault Brand UK, said: “This is an incredible result for Renault. It underlines how we continue to answer the UK’s increasing appetite for electrified vehicles, providing a broad choice of highly usable, stylish, and efficient models that meet the requirements of an equally varied customer base.

“These figures prove once again that the Renaulution strategy is on track, and our emphasis on electrification will grow even stronger as we launch the family-focused Renault Scenic E-Tech 100% electric and all-electric Renault 5 next year.”

As part of the ‘Renaulution’ strategy, Renault has launched a series of electrified models in quick succession, including the new Arkana E-Tech full hybrid, all-new Austral E-Tech full hybrid and new Clio E-Tech full hybrid.
