Motorists in South West London are paying up to £82.89 more for servicing and MoTs, compared to rates less than 200 miles away.

Price comparison site, MyCarNeedsA.com, has analysed the costs for thousands of MoT and servicing jobs across England and has identified the most expensive rates for motorists.

MyCarNeedsA.com’s managing director Scott Hamilton said: “Our research shows that motorists are paying 73% more for MoT and servicing in South West London, than they are in Stoke-on-Trent less than 200 miles away.”

South West London is the most expensive place for a standard MoT & servicing, setting motorists back by an average of £195.95.

The second most expensive area is Leicester, where MoT and servicing costs an average of £187.85, followed by Portsmouth (£186.08), Bristol (£180.72), Nottingham (£176.32), Dartford (£174.92) and Wigan (£174.66).

Stoke-on-Trent is the cheapest with £113.06 for servicing and MOT. The second cheapest place is Walsall, where it costs £117.89, followed by Doncaster (£127.20), Coventry(£127.99), Swansea (£129.44), Derby (£129.65) and Birmingham (£130.50).

“The best price for a customer may not necessarily be the cheapest. With 41% of our customers not choosing the cheapest option, it is clear that customers use, location, services offered and customer reviews to choose the best quote for them,” said Hamilton.
