Mazda will expand its electric vehicle line-up with its new Mazda6e arriving in showrooms in the first half of next year.
The five-door model will be available with a choice of two battery options — 68.8kWh and 80kWh — and offers rear-wheel drive with two power outputs: 245PS or 258PS. Both variants deliver 320Nm of torque.
Built on a new dedicated EV platform, the Japanese brand has developed the Mazda6e specifically for the European market.
Three drive modes — Normal, Sport, and Individual — allow drivers to adjust acceleration, regenerative braking, and steering resistance. A rear spoiler automatically deploys at 60mph to improve high-speed stability.
Pricing and full UK specifications will be announced closer to launch.
Mazda's broader EV strategy and partnerships
Mazda has outlined its intentions to increasingly electrify its future model range, while continuing to offer hybrid and internal combustion options for customers up to 2030.
The Japanese brand's dedicated EV platform will underpin future electrified models, including a new electric SUV in 2027.
To support this transition, Mazda is collaborating with industry partners including Panasonic, Toyota, Changan Automobile (which has already announced plans to launch in the UK itself), Denso, and BluE Nexus, integrating their technologies and expertise into upcoming models.
As a result of leveraging these partnerships, Mazda is reducing its EV development investment from ¥2 trillion (£10.3 billion) to ¥1.5 trillion (£7.7 billion).
