The MFG Group has appointed Gary Richardson as its new global AFV product manager, responsible for developing, launching and driving MFG’s EV product offensive.

He moves from his existing role as national account manager, reporting directly to CEO Declan Gaule.

“MFG is delighted to be bringing a bespoke retailer-focused programme to market with the specific aim of upskilling industry professionals in the ability to professionally and credibly sell EV products to this ever-growing marketplace,” said Gaule.

Having initially qualified in mechanical engineering with the Ministry of Defence, Richardson began his automotive career in 1985 as a business manager within the VAG Group.

Having held a variety of management roles at Ford, Rover and BMW dealers across the UK, he joined BMW UK in 2002.

Richardson worked in customer service, aftersales and business development roles at BMW before joining the MFG Group in 2018.

He said: “I am delighted to take on this new role for the MFG Group at such an exciting stage of its development. With the right skills and confidence retailer teams can educate potential owners - demonstrating the benefits of electric vehicle ownership and overcoming many of the objections customers new to this technology will ask. Huge sales potential awaits the right market conditions and preparing for when, not if, this happens is key for continued business success.”
