Heycar has appointed Matt McGuire as its new chief technology officer to oversee its roadmap of technical innovation and provide growth.

He brings significant digital experience to the online car marketplace’s senior leadership team, having worked in digital implementation, consultation and experiential campaigns.

McGuire has previously worked with blue chip brands including Shell, Ford, Unliver and Jaguar Land Rover.

Having begun his professional life as a front-end web developer at the start of the dotcom boom, McGuire’s career has also encompassed launching interactive gaming platforms and building mobile telecoms infrastructure alongside running his own successful digital agency The Alphabet Collective.

Mat Moakes, heycar CEO, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Matt on board. He brings with him a deep passion for digital innovation alongside a huge amount of expertise across a host of sectors including product development, data and marketing.

“He’s a valuable addition to the heycar senior leadership team as we continue our mission to take on the industry giants and harness technology and data to make the car-buying experience better for both buyers and sellers alike. With Matt, we’re driving our ambition for strong, data-led leadership forward.”

McGuire’s arrival at the Daimler and Volkswagen-backed business during lockdown coincides with a further 20 new starters joining across the heycar team over the past months.

“I’ve had a peak under the bonnet of heycar’s plans for the remainder of the year and it’s incredibly exciting. I can’t wait to get stuck in and help drive the business to even greater heights of success,” McGuire said.

Heycar is driving £40m worth of car sales to its dealer partners each month, after one year of trading.
